AI Safety Institutes (US CAISI / UK AISI)

State bodies evaluating frontier model risk

The US AI Safety Institute (rebranded CAISI in 2025) and UK AISI, plus an international network, conduct pre-deployment evaluations of frontier models for cyber, bio and autonomy risk. They are becoming the governmental interface for frontier testing and a soft-governance chokepoint on release.
