ByteDance's Seed research group builds the Doubao model family, which by 2025 became China's most-used consumer AI chatbot by MAU, undercutting rivals on price via Volcano Engine cloud. ByteDance is one of the largest buyers of AI compute in China and a heavy user of Nvidia H20 and domestic accelerators.
