AI Act enforcement body inside the European Commission
The European AI Office, established within DG CNECT, is the central enforcer of the AI Act's GPAI provisions, authoring the Code of Practice, evaluating systemic-risk models, and coordinating with national market surveillance authorities. It is Europe's answer to a de-facto AI regulator and the primary counterpart frontier labs negotiate compliance with.
