Scale AI
Human data labeling, RLHF, and eval provider (Meta-invested)
Scale AI provides the human-labeled data, RLHF, and red-teaming pipelines behind most frontier models. In mid-2025 Meta took a ~49% stake valuing Scale near $29B and hired founder Alexandr Wang to lead a superintelligence effort, which prompted OpenAI, Google, and others to reduce reliance on Scale over neutrality concerns. It is a chokepoint on the human-data supply that turns raw compute into aligned capability.
