Siemens EDA (Mentor)
#3 EDA — verification, DFT, and Calibre sign-off physical verification
Siemens EDA, formerly Mentor Graphics (acquired by Siemens in 2017), is the third pillar of EDA, best known for Calibre — the de facto standard for physical verification and DRC/mask sign-off that foundries qualify against. It is also strong in design-for-test (Tessent), verification (Questa), and IC packaging. Together with Synopsys and Cadence it completes the EDA oligopoly that gates advanced chip design worldwide.
