Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati with several ex-OpenAI researchers, raised a record ~$2B seed at a ~$12B valuation in 2025. It focuses on multimodal, customizable, and more interpretable/collaborative AI systems, and shipped its first product (Tinker, a fine-tuning API) in late 2025. It is among the most heavily funded new entrants.
