NuScale Power
First US NRC-certified SMR design; light-water modular reactor vendor
NuScale is a pioneer whose ~77 MWe light-water SMR module became the first SMR design certified by the US NRC. Its flagship UAMPS/Idaho 'Carbon Free Power Project' was cancelled in 2023 over cost, a setback for the sector, but NuScale continues pursuing data-center and international deployments (e.g., via partner ENTRA1) with target commercial operation later this decade. It remains a leading US SMR name despite having no operating plant yet.
