Shinko Electric Industries makes premium ABF/FC-BGA package substrates and is being acquired by a JIC-led consortium (with Dai Nippon Printing and Mitsui) to consolidate Japan's substrate strength. Shinko substrates are used in high-end CPUs/GPUs; the deal signals substrate as a strategic chokepoint.
