What it is
Cohere is an enterprise-first lab (co-founded by a Transformer paper co-author) focused on retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings (Embed), rerank, and the Command model family, plus the North enterprise platform. It deliberately avoids the consumer chatbot race, selling private, on-prem and cloud-agnostic deployments to regulated industries. It raised at a multi-billion valuation with backers including Nvidia, Salesforce, and Cisco.
