Kairos Power
Fluoride-salt-cooled SMR developer; Google's nuclear partner
Kairos Power develops the KP-FHR, a fluoride-salt-cooled high-temperature reactor, and is building the Hermes demonstration reactor in Oak Ridge, Tennessee under an NRC construction permit. In 2024 Google signed a landmark agreement to buy power from a fleet of Kairos SMRs (~500 MW), targeting a first unit by ~2030. Kairos is privately held and one of the more construction-advanced US SMR startups.
