Tech’s free lunch under attack?

There should be no such thing as a #free lunch, say two San Francisco supervisors who have introduced legislation that would endanger the single-most valued perk in Big #Tech. The idea is to boost business for food retailers, whose seats remain empty as tech employees stay in their offices eating “lavish free lunches” (as #CBS News puts it). The proposal prohibits new buildings in the city from including cafeterias with free food. The prospects for its passage are unclear. This is the beginning of a conversation,” says co-sponsor Ahsha Safai. “We think it’s an appropriate conversation to have now.”
