My take on ARD ( Agentic Resource Discovery specification ):
|This is another "SIGNAL" that the web is moving from content discovery to capability "Discovery".
SEO helped search engines find pages.
AEO/GEO helps AI systems understand answers.
ARD may help agents discover trusted tools, workflows, and services.
The future of visibility may not only be:
“Can AI find your content?”
but also:
“Can AI discover, verify, and use your capabilities?”
What is ARD?
ARD is an open specification that helps AI agents discover, verify, and connect with external capabilities like tools, APIs, MCP servers, skills, workflows, and even other agents.
In simple terms: it helps an AI agent answer, “What capability is available for this task, and can I trust it?”
Today, many agent tools and registries are fragmented across platforms and organizations. ARD introduces a more open, domain-based discovery model where organizations can publish catalogs of their capabilities, and registries can index them so agents can find the right resource dynamically.
The key idea is simple but powerful:
Catalogs = organizations publish what their agents/tools can do.
Registries = discovery systems that help AI agents search and verify those capabilities.
Trust metadata = helps confirm the publisher before the agent connects.
Important: ARD is not replacing MCP, A2A, APIs, or agent runtimes. It sits before execution helping agents discover the right resource, then letting that resource run through its native protocol.
