Cadence Design Systems
#2 EDA — analog/custom, digital implementation, and AI-driven design
Cadence is the second major EDA vendor, strong in custom/analog design (Virtuoso), digital implementation, PCB, and system-level simulation, plus growing IP and multiphysics (via its Sim/Optimality and hardware emulation Palladium/Protium lines). Its Cerebrus AI reinforcement-learning flow optimizes chip layouts automatically. Cadence and Synopsys together form the EDA duopoly that all leading fabless AI-chip designers depend on, and both are subject to US export controls.
