Evaluating AI Vendors and Procurement

AI procurement is how an organization selects and contracts an outside AI supplier. The buyer carries the risk of a model it did not build: bias, data misuse, accuracy drift and lock-in. Good practice asks for evidence, not claims: data provenance, evaluation results, security controls, and rights to audit and exit. The UK's Guidelines for AI procurement (2020) list ten considerations; US OMB memo M-24-18 (2024) governs federal AI purchases.
