Generative AI
Generative AI is the class of models that create new content, such as text, images, audio, video or code, by learning the patterns in existing examples. It differs from AI that only classifies or predicts: the output is new, and it is sampled, so two runs can differ. Knowing that it is pattern-based rather than fact-based explains both its usefulness and why it can be confidently wrong.
